A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is most commonly referred to as a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) in the United States

The difference between a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and a Hazard Analysis (JHA) is essentially just the terminology. They are fundamentally the same. They both outline your job steps, the potential hazards in undertaking the task, and the control measures required to reduce the likelihood of an injury or incident to an acceptable level.

Scaffolding Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

People often ask, "Can I have a Job Hazard Analysis for Scaffolding?" "A document that covers everything?"  The answer is not really.

A Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) needs to document step by step how you are going to do a particular job. Not all jobs are the same! Are you going to build a Steel Cantilevered K-Stage scaffold or an Aluminum Mobile Scaffold

The steps in undertaking each of these tasks are very different. Not only are the steps different, but the potential hazards and the hazard control measures are very different as well.

Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) templates for modular steel scaffold are included in all versions for the JSEAsy EHS software
All versions of the JSEAsy safety software are for creating Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP). The Premium package incorporates the above with all Safety Policies, Procedures, Registers, and Form. All your EHS requirements in one easy to use location.

On one job you maybe building a scaffold on top of a roof and  load the roofing materials onto the structure using a crane. On the next job you may simply be pulling them up by hand, or building a stair access to the roof before you build the work area access scaffold

The steps in undertaking each of these tasks are very different. Not only are the steps different, but the potential hazards and the hazard control measures are very different as well.

The JSEAsy software builds your site specific JHA for your scaffolding job by adding templates of the steps you are going to take, in the order in which you are going to take them.

Below is an example of templates you may insert into your site specific JHA for typical Installation of a K-Stage Modular Steel Scaffold.
  1. Site orientation/ Induction
  2. Claim work area
  3. Acceptance of delivery to site via crane truck
  4. Cut timber boards to size using a circular saw
  5. Installation of K-Stage Modular Steel Scaffold (The sub process steps of this template are shown below:)
    1. Check the scaffold components for damage prior to installation
    2. Site Preparation
    3. Erecting the scaffold
    4. Installing Additional Lifts
    5. Sign-Off & Handover
    6. Using the scaffold
    7. Dismantling the scaffold

When you insert a template it automatically brings with it:

  1. The main process step
  2. The sub process steps associated in undertaking the task
    1. The potential hazards associated with undertaking the task (you can also delete or add any of these with a simple click)
    2. The Risk Rating for undertaking the task (You can also change this if you want to)
    3. The Hazard Control measure (you can also delete or add any of these with a simple click)
    4. The revised risk rating after applying the control (You can also change this if you want to)
